This commission art is courtesy of the ultra-talented David Nakayama [link] whose pencils have graced a variety of titles including the official City of Heroes comic, the Marvel Adventures Hulk series, and his current project: the just-launched Marvel limited series, Big Hero 6.

I first discovered David's work right here at dA and approached him about doing a commission for me. He was up for it, but when a window in his schedule opened, I was stuck offline and unable to respond. As a result, the project fell victim to my bad timing.

Fortunately for me, I managed to track him down at the SDCC this year. Even more fortunately, he remembered our email exchange and was willing to do a full figure commission for me right there at the con.

The kickass rendering of Redline above was the result. "I really went to town on the energy trail," David told me when I picked it up -- and he really did! But I also really dug the powerful sense of motion the piece conveys, and the fierce look of determination on Redline's face.

One last note: The limited capabilities of my bargain basement scanner don't do justice to the incredible job David did coloring this piece.
